Columbus has a passion to provide excellence not only in serving our customers, but also in serving the communities in which we work. We are committed to devoting a portion of our corporate resources, in the form of company profits and volunteer hours, to improving the lives of children in our communities.

Columbus created OCEAN (Ongoing Community Education And Nurturing) to teach children about the technologies integral to their successful education, careers and social interaction. We also aim to build public awareness of NASA and JPL missions and projects and encourage young people to consider vocations in the U.S.Space Program.

“We cannot thank you enough for the generous contribution to our YCC Program and organization. From our team to yours, please accept our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support for our work. ”

— Yolanda Tully, Youth CareerConnect Program Director

In 2019, Columbus sponsored and participated in The Prince George’s County Youth CareerConnect Program (PGC-YCCP). This program is a four-year STEM education initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. It aims to provide over 2,500 high school students in Prince George’s County, Maryland with education and skills training; internships; college prep and dual enrollment; mentoring; and job readiness training to excel in high-growth industries like healthcare and IT.

Also in 2019, Columbus was thrilled to sponsor and participate in the Let It Be Foundation’s annual 10K/5K+ Walk-Run. This event in Chino Hills, California raises support for the Foundation’s mission of helping families with children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening pediatric illnesses, and help restore a sense of normalcy in the home environment. This is a cause our company believes in and we are proud to have supported this event!

Columbus is also a proud supporter of the Promise House in Zambia. We devote a portion of our corporate resources, in the form of our employees’ time and company profits, to improve the lives of orphaned children in Africa.

Our past activities have included matching employee contributions for Red Cross disaster relief efforts, sponsoring employees who participated in the LiveStrong Challenge and CIBC Run For the Cure, sponsoring the only high school in the DARPA 2005 Grand Challenge, and contributing to charities such as the Lance Armstrong Foundation and a trust for Women and Children in Crisis.

This past year has been very different, unusual, and challenging. Throughout 2020, the whole world has been battling the COVID-19 pandemic and people are struggling to make ends meet. Supporting those in need has never been this important. Since it is the holiday season and the season of giving, Columbus has decided to reach out to the community and give to those that need it the most during these hard times.

To show that #ColumbusCares, we have donated $10,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, provided 1,000 Christmas dinner meals to the Long Beach Rescue Mission, and supported the Caring Hand for Children program with a donation of $3,000. Columbus is proud to support all these organizations and their missions. We are thankful that we can give back and support our partner organizations working towards their philanthropic and humanitarian goals.
