John Rotondo has more than 36 years of experience in program/project management, systems engineering, mission assurance, and operations of satellite and ground systems. Reporting directly to Columbus CEO Ajay Handa, he is responsible for all engineering support provided by more than 700 Columbus employees to multiple government and commercial customers. In his role, Mr. Rotondo works closely with JPL managers and program teams to understand their unique engineering requirements and proactively identify people and resource solutions.
Mr. Rotondo is experienced in hands-on technical leadership of satellite system programs/projects. He brings extensive experience in all phases of program execution, including requirement management, design, verification, interface management, and mission/on orbit operation. He employs excellent communication skills with a focus on building customer rapportand fostering a team-oriented work environment. Mr. Rotondo has developed and led multiple satellite mission teams; overseen the technical requirements, products, and execution; and recruited and trained mission members that have contributed to more than 60 missions. He has been involved in system design, software and systems development, launch, and operation of two completely new satellite product lines (spin stabilized and body stabilized) that were First-Pass successful. Additionally, Mr. Rotondo brings substantial experience working directly with NASA on flight projects (space/ground/ops), new business acquisition, safety and mission assurance, and Independent Review Teams (IRT).
Mr. Rotondo holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Oakland University, and a Master of Science in engineering from UCLA. He has been married to this wife, Beth, for over 30 years and has four children and three grandchildren.
