Director of Process Improvement

Dr. Ashish Bansal has more than 23 years of experience in various corporate leadership roles – managing business strategy, operations, R&D, process optimization, technology scale-up, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, facilities, product strategy development and product development. At Columbus, Dr. Bansal is primarily responsible for improving and streamlining current corporate processes and increasing employee efficiency. He has developed two proprietary tools which have improved efficiencies in new business development and in recruiting.

Before joining Columbus, Dr. Bansal was the Vice President of R&D at International Solar Electric Technology (ISET) in Chatsworth, CA, where he developed a proprietary 3rd-Gen patented ink based solar cell technology. At ISET, he was responsible for day-to-day company operations, facilities and R&D strategy for improving solar cell efficiency where he successfully mentored cross functional teams with varied cultural backgrounds, skill levels and technical backgrounds. Dr. Bansal was an SME reviewer for a professional international solar journal for 8 years. He has also been a founding member of a couple of startups.

Dr. Bansal holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech and a master’s degree in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. He did his post-doctoral research in solar hydrogen production at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO. He has a certificate in Lean Operations. Dr. Bansal holds 2 U.S. patents, has published 20 professional papers and has presented his work at several national and international conferences.
